Head, heart and pedals: discover the great strides made near Bormio with us

For us, cycling is not just one activity among many: it is part of our soul.

A unique way to breathe in the mountains, experiencing them pedal stroke after pedal stroke, with that passion that drives you to want to go one step further every day, to explore and challenge yourself. Here at Hotel Funivia, everything is designed to satisfy this desire, from our services to excursions with our Stelvioman.

…and just outside the door, names that make every cyclist’s heart beat faster: Stelvio, Gavia, Mortirolo.

Who is Stelvioman?

Stelvioman is our Daniele: the passionate and expert guide who always knows the right route at the right time, because he has tried them all in every condition. He guides and accompanies you not only on the Stelvio, but also on less travelled routes and surprising paths. With him, you don’t just follow a trail: you enjoy a true cycling experience.

Road cycling: the essence of cycling

The great Alpine passes need no introduction, but knowing how to tackle them makes all the difference. With Stelvioman and our guides, you can experience road cycling in an authentic way, with legendary climbs, views that change at every bend and challenging routes. From single excursions to more structured tours, every itinerary is born from passion and experience in the field.

Bikepacking: lightweight and far away

Gravel: off the tarmac, into the countryside

Gravel riding here in Bormio is pure discovery. Secondary roads, military dirt tracks, uneven paths that wind through valleys and woods, offering breathtaking views at every turn. We know the right tracks to combine adventure, pace and beauty, far from traffic and the beaten track. The right choice when you want to change pace without sacrificing beauty.

E-Bikes: less effort, same enjoyment

If you want to explore the area with more freedom, e-bike and electric MTB excursions allow you to tackle significant distances and elevation gains with a smoother and less tiring approach. Whether you’re riding on scenic roads, challenging climbs or mixed terrain, pedal assistance opens up new possibilities without taking away any of the fun.

Iconic itineraries, to be experienced on two wheels

Stelvio at dawn

Tackling the Stelvio Pass from Bormio means taking on one of cycling’s most iconic climbs: 21 kilometres of ascent and 48 hairpin bends that tempt any cyclist. Setting off at dawn changes everything: the light rising, the road quieter and the feeling of cycling alone with the mountain ahead. An intense experience, to be enjoyed at least once.

Gavia

The Gavia Pass is an iconic climb, also featured in the Giro d’Italia: one of those roads that are instantly recognisable for their character and scenery. From Bormio, it is about 26 km long, with a varied profile: smoother stretches alternate with passages that require determination, while the altitude rises to over 2,600 metres and the view becomes increasingly breathtaking.

Mortirolo

Mortirolo means legend and refers to Marco Pantani’s feat in 1994. To tackle it in the best possible way, your head is as important as your legs: 1,852 metres above sea level, prohibitive gradients and a rugged charm, with several possible approaches from Valtellina (Mazzo, Tovo, Grosio), which are considered among the most challenging and magnetic.

Cancano Lakes

Cancano is a climb surrounded by breathtaking nature, between the peaks of Bormio, Livigno and Switzerland. The approximately 14 km pass by at a pleasant pace, ideal when you want a satisfying ride without extremes. At the top, the Torri di Fraele and the view of the two artificial lakes of Cancano await you: a spectacular finale to savour.

These itineraries are just a taste of what you can do with Stelvioman and our guides: you bring your desire to explore, and we’ll take care of the rest!
