F.A.Q.
Questions, answers and useful information to help you plan your holiday in Bormio.
Booking and rates
What does Adults Friendly 12+ mean?
It is the way we have chosen to welcome our guests: from the age of 12 and up. It is not a stance against children — quite the opposite, we truly love them. It is simply that our spaces, our rhythms and our idea of a holiday are designed for adults and teenagers: younger children would not find here the tailor-made environment and attention they deserve.
Can I book online or directly?
Yes, and it is worth it. By booking directly on our website, you get the best guaranteed rate, free access to the spa, pool and gym, outdoor parking and use of the bike room included. You can book through our online booking system or via the contact form.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellation policies vary depending on the period and the rate selected. The conditions that apply to your stay are always clearly shown during the search and booking process, in the dedicated section of our direct booking system.
Is a deposit required? When is it charged?
A deposit of 30% of the total stay amount is generally required when confirming the booking. You can pay by credit card or bank transfer; the balance is then settled at check-out.
Is the tourist tax included? How much is it?
The tourist tax charged by the Municipality of Bormio is not included in the displayed rates: the exact amount is always indicated in your quote and is paid directly at the hotel at the end of your stay.
Are gift vouchers or gift cards available?
Personalised gift vouchers can be requested. We also have agreements with some corporate welfare and benefit platforms. To check whether your platform is among them, contact reception directly at +39 0342 903242 or write to info@hotelfunivia.it.
Do you organise group dinners, private events or sports retreats?
Yes. Upon request, we organise group dinners, private events and experiences designed around the needs of the group: briefings, dedicated menus and personalised schedules. Write to us and tell us what you have in mind.
Arrival, check-in and logistics
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is from 3:00 p.m. and check-out is by 10:00 a.m. If you have different needs — an early arrival or a late departure after your last bike ride — contact us: whenever possible, we will find the most convenient solution for you.
What are the reception opening hours?
Reception is open every day from 7:30 a.m. to midnight. There is always someone available in the hotel for night-time emergencies.
Do you have parking or a garage? Can it be booked?
Yes. We provide free outdoor parking and a covered garage for an additional fee. Only the covered garage can be booked in advance.
Do you offer airport transfers?
Yes, upon request. We work with our partner Elma Viaggi for transfers to and from the main airports in northern Italy. Contact us to receive a personalised quote based on the airport, times and number of passengers.
Can I arrive by train with my bike? How does it work from Tirano?
The closest railway station to Bormio is Tirano, which can be reached from northern Italy and Switzerland via the scenic Bernina line. For timetables and bike transport rules, we suggest checking the Trenord and Rhaetian Railway websites. From Tirano, you can also ride up to the hotel by bike along the Sentiero Valtellina, a cycle path that follows the valley floor and brings you straight to us: around 40 km of cycling immersed in the Valtellina landscape.
Do you have Wi-Fi?
Yes, throughout the hotel: in the rooms and in all common areas, free of charge for guests.
Rooms and room types
Do the rooms have a balcony?
Almost all our rooms have a balcony, with views of the Stelvio slope or Bormio. The exceptions are the Junior Suite on the top floor and some Classic rooms. To choose the right one for you, take a look at the Rooms & Suites page or at the booking engine.
Do you have connecting rooms or triple rooms for groups of friends and families with teenagers over 12?
Yes, we have a small number of multiple rooms, ideal for groups of friends or families with teenagers aged 12 and over. As availability is limited, we recommend booking them in advance.
Is it possible to add an extra bed in the room? In which rooms?
Yes. An extra bed is available in some Junior Suites and Suites. You can find the details on the Rooms & Suites page or contact us directly so we can suggest the best combination for you.
Do you have accessible rooms for guests with reduced mobility?
Yes, we have equipped rooms and the hotel has no significant architectural barriers. However, we recommend contacting us before booking, so we can check every detail together and make sure your stay is truly comfortable and worry-free.
Do you accept pets?
Yes, we accept small and medium-sized dogs in Classic and Superior rooms, with a supplement of 15 euros per day. They can accompany you in all common areas, except for the restaurant and wellness spaces.
Is there a smoking area?
No. The hotel is completely non-smoking, including the rooms. Guests who smoke can use the garden and outdoor areas.
Are there outdoor areas available for guests?
Yes. We have a large garden with panoramic mountain views, the perfect place for breakfast in the sun, a beer after your ride, or simply to close your eyes and breathe in the Bormio air.
Breakfast and restaurant
Is breakfast included in the price?
Yes, always. Our breakfast is sweet and savoury, generous and designed by sportspeople for sportspeople: local products, protein options, gluten-free choices and a dedicated corner for those about to get on the saddle.
What time does breakfast start for those leaving early by bike?
Breakfast is served from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., but upon request we can serve it earlier for those planning a sunrise Stelvio ride or a long day out. During events and races, we announce dedicated early breakfast opening times.
Is the road packed lunch included or charged separately?
The road packed lunch includes a banana, an energy bar and, upon request, a sandwich prepared by the kitchen. It is included in the Bike package; for other types of stay, it is available as an additional service.
Do you have an in-house restaurant?
Yes. Our restaurant is open for dinner only, with an à la carte menu that tells the story of Valtellina cuisine, Italian excellence and vegetarian and vegan dishes. Guests who prefer a half-board-style formula can purchase the Active Dinner package. Ask us for more information.
Is the restaurant also open to external guests? Is booking required?
Yes, our restaurant is also open to guests who are not staying at the hotel, and we offer Valtellina cuisine, Italian specialities and vegetarian and vegan dishes. Booking is highly recommended, especially on weekends and during high season.
Do you offer options for coeliacs or guests with food intolerances?
Yes. Our chef is used to preparing dishes for guests who are coeliac or have specific intolerances. To ensure the best experience, please let us know your needs before arrival: we will have everything ready and carefully prepared.
Bike Spirit
Are there specific services for cyclists?
Yes, they are at the heart of what we do. An indoor video-surveilled bike room with dedicated bike stands, washing and maintenance area, workshop, laundry service for technical clothing and guided rides with our Stelvioman. The care continues at the table too: road packed lunch to take on the climb, a small energy snack on your return and a breakfast corner designed for cyclists. Full details are available on the Services for Cyclists page.
How is your bike room organised?
Our bike room is a real workshop, not a storage room. Each bike has its own place on a stand, there is an equipped station for minor repairs and assembly, a dedicated space to store your bike box if you travel with your own bike, and sockets for charging e-bikes. Access is reserved exclusively for hotel guests through a home automation system with personal authorisation, and the entire area is under video surveillance 24 hours a day.
Can I keep my bike in the room if I prefer?
It is not necessary: the bike room is designed precisely so you do not have to take your bike to your room. That said, if for any reason you prefer to keep it in your room, there is no problem.
Do you have an in-house or partner mechanic?
Yes. A partner mechanic is available upon request during dedicated time slots and can come directly to the hotel for tune-ups, small repairs and checks before your ride.
What happens if I have a breakdown or puncture during a ride? Is there a pick-up service?
When it happens, we step in. Depending on the situation, we can support you directly or organise a pick-up through a partner taxi service. This is a paid service.
Can I rent a bike on site?
Absolutely. Thanks to our collaboration with the best bike rental shops in Bormio, you can rent road bikes, mountain bikes, gravel bikes and e-bikes — including top-of-the-range models — without having to bring your own.
Do you organise guided bike tours?
Yes. We organise guided rides, always with expert guides and with our Stelvioman himself. The Stelvio at sunrise, gravel rides, legendary climbs on the historic passes of Valtellina: you will find everything on the Ride with Stelvioman page.
Are rides with Stelvioman included or charged separately?
Guided rides with Stelvioman are a paid service. You can find all details, levels and the calendar on the Ride with Stelvioman page.
When does the Stelvio Pass open? And the other Alpine passes?
The Stelvio Pass generally opens on the last weekend of May, and with it the other historic passes in the area also open: Gavia, Mortirolo and Foscagno. It is no coincidence that the hotel opens its summer season on the same weekend.
What is the best time to cycle in Bormio?
The best months are May, June, July and September. May and June are ideal for those who want to ride the Stelvio just after it opens, with little traffic and snow still along the roadside. July offers long days and all passes accessible. September is the golden month for gravel: fresh temperatures, full light and dry trails.
Are there downloadable GPX routes or a road book provided by the hotel?
Yes. You can find our recommended and updated routes on Hotel Funivia's Komoot page: follow us to stay up to date with the tracks and download them before you leave.
Do you offer rates or packages for cycling groups?
Yes. For groups of cyclists, we create personalised conditions based on the number of participants, period and length of stay. Write to us at info@hotelfunivia.it or call us on +39 0342 903242 to receive a dedicated proposal.
Do you offer a laundry service?
For guests choosing the bike package, washing of technical clothing is included — because it feels good to ride every day in clean gear. For the rest of your clothing, we offer a laundry service upon request, for an additional fee.
Can I come alone and still find a community?
Absolutely, and it is one of the things that makes us different. Bike Spirit was born precisely from the encounter between enthusiasts who did not know each other in the morning and end up having dinner at the same table in the evening. The garden, spa, breakfast room and restaurant are designed as spaces for exchange: those who come alone stop feeling alone within a day.
Winter and skiing
How far is the hotel from the ski lifts?
We are located at the finish area of the Stelvio slope — the slope that hosted the Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympics — and 200 metres from the ski lifts. For most of the winter, it is possible to ski back to the hotel.
Do you have a ski room or ski storage? Boot warmers?
Yes. The ski room is equipped with dedicated lockers and boot warmers, so in the morning everything is ready and warm for your first run.
Do you sell or deliver ski passes at the hotel?
Yes. At the hotel you can purchase both daily and multi-day ski passes, without having to queue at the lift ticket office.
Do you have agreements with ski rentals, ski schools and instructors?
Yes. We work with trusted ski rentals and ski schools. Upon reservation, Lorenzo, our ski instructor, is also available at the hotel.
Active Soul: fitness, classes and guides
Do you have a wellness centre and a pool? Is access charged?
Our spa is intimate and cosy — Finnish sauna, steam bath, relaxation area and a small indoor pool — open every day from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. On the third floor, we also have a Private Spa with sauna and steam bath, bookable for exclusive use for moments as a couple or pure solitude. Access to the main spa is free for guests who book directly with us; the Private Spa is available with a supplement, upon reservation.
Do you have a gym? What equipment does it have?
Yes, there are two indoor gyms. One is set up as a weight room and the other is dedicated to cardio and bodyweight training, with skill bike, treadmill, skierg and rower. They are open all year round and equipped with professional Technogym machines.
Do you have an outdoor gym?
Yes. During the warmer months, training moves to our outdoor gym, a large equipped area surrounded by meadows. Training in the open air, surrounded by greenery, at your own pace: it is one of the most beautiful ways to experience movement while on holiday.
What fitness classes do you organise?
In collaboration with The Shealth, our technical partner, we organise yoga, Pilates, circuit training and Hyrox training classes. Yoga works on balance, mobility and breathing; Pilates focuses on posture and movement control; circuit training alternates bodyweight exercises and small equipment to build strength and endurance; Hyrox training prepares athletes for Hyrox circuit races with functional exercises, rowers, lunges and jumps alternating with running.
What is The Shealth and why do you collaborate with them?
The Shealth is the team of professionals who curate our programme of classes and personal training. Technical expertise, method and attention to the individual: with them, we took part in the Hyrox World Race 2025 in Valencia. We work together because the quality of guidance is what separates a well-done session from one done just for the sake of it.
Is it possible to book a personal trainer?
Yes. We provide qualified personal trainers from The Shealth for targeted programmes and private lessons, with a path built around your needs, level and goals. Sessions can be booked on arrival or, upon request, even before your stay.
Is it possible to book a massage?
Yes. Treatments and massages are available in the wellness centre or in the Wellbeing Room, with a menu designed for sports recovery and pure relaxation. During high season, we recommend booking before arrival.
Do you have a ski instructor at the hotel?
Yes. During winter, you can book our ski instructor Lorenzo directly at the hotel: a convenient and immediate choice, especially considering that we are at the foot of the Stelvio slope.
Do you have mountain guides and hiking guides for treks and excursions?
Yes. Our Lorenzo, who in addition to being a ski instructor is also a mid-mountain guide, is available for treks and excursions suited to your level. Experiencing the territory with someone who truly knows it completely changes the experience.
Do you organise retreats or themed events?
Yes. In collaboration with The Shealth, we organise multi-day retreats and events dedicated to wellbeing, balance and fitness. They are experiences designed for those who want something more immersive, to share with people who have the same approach.
