BIKE EVENTS IN BORMIO AND IN THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

Every year, Bormio hosts several events dedicated to the world of cycling. Discover them all.These are a few you can’t miss.

GIRO D'ITALIA 2024

In 2023 the Giro did not visit the Valtellina, our home and home of the great climbs of the Giro, made famous by the  champions of the race and loved by us and our guests.

In 2024, however, the race that made the great names of cycling famous returns to Alta Valtellina for three days.

It starts on Sunday 19 May, with a stage finish in Livigno. Here the race returns after many years with an unprecedented finish at the Mottolino ski resort. A 220 km stage that will start from Manerba del Garda and pass through Switzerland and the Forcola Pass then finishes at the area known as the  “Little Tibet”.

On Monday 20th the riders have  a day of rest day, which for enthusiasts is ideal for visiting the “Magnifica Terra” and cycling in company excited by the magical atmosphere that the Giro d’Italia always brings , all while waiting for the day of the  “Cima Coppi”. The stage that crosses the mighty Stelvio

Tuesday 21 May will be an uphill start for everyone because the stage will take the riders from Livigno to Santa Cristina Val Gardena including the climb of the Stelvio from the Bormio side. This is where the athletes will reach the highest point of the race, before saying goodbye to Valtellina.

GRANFONDO STELVIO SANTINI

Granfondo Stelvio Santini is a long race, made of different routes but with one thing in common: all can be experienced with the same determination and enthusiasm.

The race challenging Stelvio, Mortirolo and Teglio passes.

Are you ready to accept the challenge of this great classic? We are waiting for next edition the 2nd June 2024.

MAPEI DAY

We are waiting for the date of the 2024 editon of Re Stelvio-Mapei Day: a one-of-a-kind competition to challenge Stelvio.

It’s one of the most popular competitions for athletes. The combination of two sports characterised by the same characteristics: determination, tenacity and endurance.

ALTA VALTELLINA BIKE MARATHON

On the 27th July 2024 take part in the toughest marathon of the Alps on Saturday, MarathonEndurance and Classic are 3 spectacular tracks ready to be challenged by athletes from all over the world.

3 days of pure sport surrounded by an unforgettable natural location.

 

HAUTE ROUTE DOLOMITES

The 2023 Haute Route Dolomites will kick off with a truly epic stage encapsulating two all-time classics. Heading out of the town centre of stunning Bormio, riders kick off the five-day race with the spectacular climb to Passo Umbrail.
  • 29th August: 1st Stage: Bormio-Passo Umbrail-Passo Stelvio (84 km e 3.300 m elevation)
  • 30st August: 2nd Stage: Bormio-Passo Gavia-Passo Predaia (120 km e 3.000 m elevation)

ENJOY STELVIO VALTELLINA

During the months of June, July, August and September, the appointment with Enjoy Stelvio Valtellina returns, the non-competitive event (and with no obligation to register) open to all and which includes a calendar of closures to motorised traffic of the most famous and beautiful mountain roads in the province of Sondrio.

This year’s edition includes two important novelties. The addition to the calendar of anadditional date to close the Campo Moro climb and the opening of a new challenge: the possibility for enthusiasts to climb, on Thursday 29 August, the Mortirolo from Sernio.
