Every year lots of bike events take place in Bormio. Here is a list of some of the most important events for 2019:

Giro d'Italia

Tuesday, 28th May – the queen stage of the Giro d’Italia, across the alps with 5700m of elevation gain over 226km. A demanding, leg-sapping stage that will widen the gap among the GC contenders.


Sunday, 2nd June – An epic challenge to the Stelvio and Mortirolo. This hugely popular event is expected to attract over 3,000 cyclists from across the globe. Entry numbers will be capped at 3,500.


Thursday, 13th June-Saturday 15th June – Bormio will be crowded with thousands of Belgian cyclists who will challenge the epic Stelvio Pass.

Re Stelvio Mapei

Sunday, 14th July – Stelvio Mapei, the most unique competition of its kind. At the start, there are runners and cyclists (both professional and non-professional) ready to challenge the legendary climb of the Stelvio (with an altitude difference of 1533m) up to the Coppi peak at 2758m.

Alta Valtellina Bike Marathon

Saturday, 17th July – Alta Valtellina Bike Marathon, a legendary challenge for all that love to pedal up high, near the sky! Within the magical scenery of Stelvio National Park and the Cancano Lakes, the trails are certainly some of the most evocative in the Alps.

Stelvio Bike Day

Early September – Stelvio Bike Day, the historic climb at Stelvio Pass will be reserved for cyclists and runners, to enjoy the climb in an unconditionally quiet and safe manner.

Haute Route Stelvio

Friday 20th September to Sunday 22nd September – The Haute Route Stelvio is the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the legend that is Stelvio, for a long weekend of incredible riding.
