Bernina Express and St. Moritz

St Moritz is an exclusive town in a pretty area of the Engadina valley in Switzerland. It offers many opportunities for skiing and mountain tracks for walking.

The highest summit in the Eastern Alps, the Piz Bernina, lies a few kilometres south of the town. Popular pastimes include skiing and hiking, and nearby there is also the world famous Cresta Run toboggan course. St. Moritz was the host city for the 1928 and 1948 Winter Olympics. It also hosted the 1934, 1974 and 2003 Alpine Skiing World Championships.

It is one of only three cities that have hosted the Winter Olympic Games twice. The Bernina Express train has panoramic coaches. It is popular with tourists and connects Tirano with the Post Bus service to Lugano and Livigno and from 2008 is designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Many cyclists take the opportunity of using the train to take them to places for excursions and rides.
